NAIDOC week is a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and an opportunity to recognise the contributions that Indigenous Australians make to our country and our society. At our school we celebrate by inviting our families and friends to spend the day with us and experience the many cultural activities that are part of our NAIDOC day. We were lucky enough to also spend the day with our buddies in KB. Everyone had so much fun!
Math activities are a regular part of our day in 5P. One of our favourite activities are our problem solving cards that we work together in small groups to solve. We have been learning how to tackle problems with a variety of strategies. The first strategy that we learnt was to draw a diagram. Drawing a picture of a math problem is a great way to help find the answer. This week we have changed strategies and have been learning how to create a table to solve math problems. Most of us really like this strategy, though, determining what type of table to draw can be a little tricky. Mrs Parrello is really impressed at our ability to continue working on problems even when we are faced with a real challenge. 5P are definitely becoming resilient learners! |
