Today 5P visited the CARES bike safety centre. Constable Pritchard showed us how to stay safe on the road both as a pedestrian and cyclist. The students were shown how to correctly fit their helmet and the many reasons why they must never ride without one on. Everyone was issued with their own licence that had 12 points. Thankfully we all completed the day with our licence, though some of us were very close to losing theirs! Rebekah impressed constable Pritchard so much with her riding skills and answers to his questions that she was presented with her very own helmet at the end of the day. Congratulations Rebekah! A wonderful day was had by all and we would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Du Ross-Smith and Mrs Ferguson for spending the day with us.
All year we have been working really hard to improve our editing skills in our writing. Editing is a vital part of the writing process that helps us to become better writers. We have tried many approaches, including peer editing, in an attempt to help us identify the parts of our writing that still needs some work. Whilst we are getting better, there is still room for improvement. Then this week ... something magical happened in our room. Editing Ed moved in. Ed helps us to see the parts of our writing that we could improve on and we use him to fix our errors. We are sure he has some magical power as we now make improvements and find our errors that previously we would never have seen! We are certainly pleased to have Ed join our class and we intend to make good use of him for the rest of the year. |
